Introducing the world’s first tourism electric hydrofoiling vessel

Today, we've unveiled the VS–9, our all-electric hydrofoiling catamaran, and with it, new opportunities for premium passenger transport on the water.

We've designed and built almost everything, from hardware, to vessel control software, in our facility in Auckland, New Zealand.

Flying above the waves on carbon fibre foils, the VS–9 can transport up to 10 passengers, and operates at speeds of up to 30 knots across 50 nautical miles on a single charge. The flight is smooth, quiet, and generates no emissions.

The VS–9 is undergoing sea trials locally, with Maritime New Zealand certification scheduled for this year. The vessel will enter service with New Zealand's largest ferry operator, Fullers360, soon after.

NetZero Maritime, Fullers360’s specialist maritime green technology and innovation team, has played a pivotal role in the vessel's adoption.

Our CEO, Eric Laakmann, said the partnership was one of the most powerful in the world in adopting new technologies designed to use energy more sustainably.

"There are 33 million vessels in the world today with sustainable vessels representing the smallest fraction. Through significant enhancements in efficiency, hydrofoiling will play a key role in this once-in-a-generation shift."

Working with NetZero Maritime, our expert team of marine engineers and boat builders have ensured the VS–9 is designed and built to commercial and tourism transport specifications. It's engineered for safety, built to last.
