The VS–9 wins Red Dot Award
At Vessev, we believe great design doesn’t just look good – it performs, endures, and inspires.
That’s why we’re proud to share that the VS–9, our flagship electric hydrofoiling vessel, has received the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2025.
One of the most prestigious competitions of its kind in the world, the Red Dot Design Award celebrates products that push boundaries in form and function. Each year, an international jury of experts selects winners based on innovation, quality, and impact.
This recognition is a powerful endorsement of the intent and craft behind the VS–9.
From the outset, our vision was to create something beautifully functional, where every surface and detail serves a purpose. Drawing on principles from the premium automotive world, we focused on clarity, performance, and precision.
The exterior design brings together clean lines, panoramic glazing, and seamless functionality. Inside, the cabin is intentionally pared back — open, filled with natural light, and free of distraction. As the Red Dot jury noted, it’s this “functional simplicity and clean visual identity” that makes the VS–9 stand out.
But great design isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s what makes performance possible.
With a carbon fibre hull, fully retractable hydrofoil system, and all-electric propulsion, the VS–9 is built for high energy efficiency and low environmental impact. It carries up to 10 passengers, reaches top speeds of 30 knots, and offers up to 50 nautical miles of range on a single charge, while significantly reducing wake and running costs.
One of the first electric hydrofoiling vessels certified for commercial passenger use, the VS–9 is in operation with Fullers360, New Zealand’s largest ferry operator.
